F1 Belgian Grand Prix Qualifying

FORMULA 1 ROLEX BELGIAN GRAND PRIX 2022 - QUALIFYING

Max Verstappen's Penalty Hands Carlos Sainz Pole Position

Verstappen to Start Sixth After Grid Penalty

Max Verstappen of Red Bull may have aced qualifying for the 2022 Belgian Grand Prix, but it is Carlos Sainz who will start on pole position after the Dutchman was hit with a five-grid penalty.

According to race qualifying and practice updates highlights at Spa-Francorchamps, Verstappen's penalty will see him start the race in sixth place, handing Sainz, who drives for Ferrari, the advantage at the start of the race.

With the wet weather hopefully staying away and paving the way for a dry Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday, Charles Leclerc of Ferrari will start the race in second place, followed by Fernando Alonso of Alpine in third and Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes in fourth.

The race is set to be an exciting one, with the top three drivers all within a tenth of a second of each other in qualifying.
